| Drive safely on roads. There are no white marks on roads or streets in Antalya. Summer are too hot and they erase all marks. |
| Antalya Overview |
Antalya is located on Turkey's Mediterranean coast and has an ideal climate and a beautiful setting, and is a good base for visiting the many historical sites nearby, such as Perge.
The old quarter of Antalya is where you'll find most of the tourist attractions, including 13th century Yivli Minare and the old harbour, which has been recently restored. There are many opportunities for fun and exciting day trips to many interesting sites near to the city. |
| Antalya Essentials |
Antalya Museum - This museum houses many exhibitions detailing the history of Antalya, it was started in the days of Italian occupation in 1919. This is one of the best places to start off sightseeing in Antalya.
Karain Cave - The Karain Cave is located just out of Antalya along the Burdur Highway, and is well worth the short trip out of town. Digs at the cave revealed a settlement that lived in the cave over 50,000 years ago, it is also one of Turkey's largest caves.
Manavgat Waterfalls - The region surrounding Antalya is home to some of the most beautiful waterfalls, the Manavgat waterfalls are located just out of town and are a sight not to be missed.
Dove Island - This small island is located just off the shore near Antalya, and is a great place for divers to go and take a look at the natural marine life. There is also an interesting small cave on the east shore of the island.
Termessos National Park - This amazing national park is located about 30 minutes from Antalya along the Antalya Korkuteli highway. The park was alos the site of the ancient city of Termessos. |
| Antalya Calendar - Pick of the Year's Events |
Finike Festival (late June) - This is one of the biggest festivals of the year in Antalya. There are numerous ceremonies and folklore concerts held throughout the city for the duration of a few days.
Ibradi Grape Festival (September) - This annual festival is held in the begining of September. There are many activities on offer, including a grape competition; and local arts and crafts exhibitions. |
