| Fethiye Overview |
Occupying the ancient site of the Lycian city, Telmessos, Fethiye is a good base for exploring the surrounding countryside and other archaeological sites for which this area is famous, but there is more to the city than dusty ruins.
It has a beautiful setting on the hillsides of Mount Mendos, that surround the Fethiye Bay, and offers numerous attractions for the visitor and explorer.

Swimming – With the temperature usually at 86-105 F (30-40 C) in summer, and waters that never fall below 60 F (16 C), swimming is possible for nine months of the year.
Kaya Koyu – The ghost village of Kaya Koyu, 7 km from Fethiye, covers a hillside with over two thousand abandoned cottages and a beautiful basilica. The village was deserted when the Anatolian-Greek population was relocated.
Oludeniz Lagoon – Make your way through the village of Kaya Koyu to the lagoon at the bottom of the nearby hill, where the swimming is great, and which is the start of the Lycian Way.
Letoon – This important archaeological site, with the ruins of three temples and a large, well-preserved theatre, is only a few kilometres from Fethiye, and can be reached by dolmus.
12 Islands – There are cruises offered to take visitors to the 12 islands lying off the coast, each of them has its own special attraction, and the cruise itself is an experience not to be missed.
