Kemer Overview |
Kemer is a resort village on the outskirts of the Taurus Mountains in an area that is known for its turquoise beaches. Its 52 km coastline is surrounded by orange groves, sweet pine forests and historical ruins.
The town, built in 1910, has a population of 9 740. |

Kemer Essentials |
Phaselis - These ancient Roman ruins, 15 km west of Kemer, can be reached by either car or boat. Phaselis was once an important harbour and commercial centre and this can be shown by the acropolis, the theatre and agora's. It has a museum that explains what is known about the centre and exhibits of some of the former remains found in Phaselis.
Kemer Mariner - This is a centre of activity in the town with all the boats that undertake the "blue voyage" that entails sailing around the bay to take in all the sights. Besides having all the facilities that yachtsmen can enjoy, there is a beach promenade at the marina that has plenty of cafes and shops.
Jeep Safari - This is a scenic trip that includes taking in the Taurus Mountains which is 1,200m high, as well as the forests, valleys and small villages scattered along the route. A stop is usually made at one village for visitors to stretch their legs and see what life is like in the village. There are quite a few fresh springs along the way as well.
Olimpos - Not far from Phaselis is this other ancient Roman ruins. Here you will find a continuously burning natural gas that in the past was used as a "lighthouse" for the boats at sea.
Ul upina Degirmen Restaurant - Next to the old water mill is this restaurant with typical Turkish meals of homemade pies and lavas bread, trout from their fish farm, and a variety of other meals. |

Kemer Calendar - Pick of the Year's Events |
| Kemer Carnival - Held every September, there is much rejoicing in the town to generally celebrate life itself. There are parades and contests and even the pubs, bars and discos join in with special events. |
