| Taksim Overview |
Taksim is the hub of activity in the modem city of Beyoglu. The water from the Belgrade Forest has been distributed though the modern city since the early 18th century.
This is where the area gets its name from, as Taksim means "water distribution centre". Standing on top of Istikial Caddesi in the originally 1732 stone reservoir, built by Mahmut I. |
